Mr. Baker

Hello!

Hi folks!

My name is Alexander Baker and I am a Special Education Resource Teacher here at Sanford! I teach my own small group Math classes, in addition to co-teaching classes with general education math teachers. I grew up in Minneapolis and am a graduate of Minneapolis Public Schools myself, attending Emerson SILC from K-8 and then graduating from South High School in 2009. I attended the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota for my undergrad, majoring in Marketing, but ultimately decided the corporate world was not for me! I worked as a Special Education Assistant in the DCD (Developmental Cognitive Disabilities) program at Edison High School for two years before deciding to take the next step and become a special education teacher myself. I was fortunate enough to get into the Grow Your Own Program at MPS, which allowed me to obtain my masters in Special Education while co-teaching with a mentor teacher and taking graduate classes all at the same time. I started working as a Special Education Resource teacher at Sanford in 2019, and hope to be here for years to come!
