About Me

My name is Mr. Pilon an I have ben teaching art at Sanford since 2019. Overall, I have been teaching art in MPS since 2010. I believe the goal of art education is to allow students the opportunity to explore art and its relationship in their everyday lives. The art classroom should be a place where students interact not only with the teacher but also with their peers as communication is an essential part of art. As an art teacher, I see myself as a guide in their art experience as they explore the art world and create meaning from these experiences.

In my free time, my own personal art involves personal responses to events and memories. I incorporate a lot of printmaking, (including relief, screenprinting and monotypes) and drawing into my images. I also have 2 elementary aged kids and a dog. My wife also teaches at Sanford. Other than art, I spend a lot of time out in nature with our dog, watching sports and reading.
