Welcome!

Hello!

My name is Ken Beck.  I'm one of the math teachers on the 8th grade team.  I also teach Geometry.

I grew up in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  I went to college at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.  My family and I currently live in north Minneapolis.

I have two sons, both of whom are products of Minneapolis Public Schools (Loring Elementary, Northeast Middle School, and Patrick Henry High School).  Jonah is now a senior at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.  He is majoring in music composition.  Toby is taking a break from college and is working full time.  My wife, Sheri, works at the University of Minnesota's Medical Laboratory Sciences as an admissions and recruitment specialist.  We also have a black lab named Pepper and three cats (Freiheit, Pixie, and Tux).

I've been teaching since 1995.  I have been teaching math in Minneapolis since 2001, and I've been at Sanford Middle School since 2010.

Some of my hobbies include reading, biking, photography, playing the guitar and ukulele, and playing games (Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, Starfinder, Mage Wars, Talisman, Descent, and others).
